Congratulations to the Amaruq of Ikusik school!

The Kativik School Board and the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services jointly announce the victory of the Amaruq of Ikusik School in the regional no-contact hockey championship held in Lachine from March 19 to 22, 2010.

At the event, 15 students aged 11 to 13 years participated in the tournament. They won first place after a victory in the final, with a score of 4 to 1 against the students of Stanislas College. “The students experienced some unforgettable moments, and they are all eager for the next school year,” mentioned Richard Doyon, the teacher in charge of the hockey program at Ikusik School.

Affiliation with the Association régionale du Sport étudiant du Lac-Saint-Louis enabled the Ikusik School to participate in the regional school championship of no-contact hockey. In effect, in September 2009, the Kativik School Board officially joined the broad Québec network of student sports, which permitted encouraging the hockey program at Ikusik School; that program has supported students in their academic success for seven years now.
