VARIOUS NUNAVIK COMMUNITIES – POSSIBLE REPLACEMENTS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR

The School Board wishes to create a bank of candidates that would be interested in filling Principal’s position available for the 2014-2015 school year.

The Kativik School Board provides education to the Inuit of Nunavik.  Its facilities are located in the 14 communities on the Hudson and Ungava Bay coasts.  Its administrative centre, presently located in Montréal, will ultimately be relocated in Nunavik.

FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the authority of the Director of School Operations, the School Principal is responsible for the administration of educational programs and teaching resources at the primary and secondary levels of a school. The Principal is the educational leader of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Permanent teaching diploma (Brevet) issued by the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sport (MELS);
Undergraduate university degree.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board

REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years of experience in a teaching or in professional position including at least three (3) years in teaching;
Fluency in two of the three languages of the Board (English, French Inuktitut);
Experience as a leader in a cross-cultural environment is an asset.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Principal  / From $71,127to $101,828depending on school size, qualifications and experience
