Your Centre Director, Vice-Principal or school secretary will announce the opening of kindergarten registration.<\/p>\n

Keep an eye on your school\u2019s Facebook page and listen to your local FM radio.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What do I have to bring?” tab_id=”1627605094076-89b5b460-008916280032274531628005029869″][vc_column_text]The child\u2019s birth certificate.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t have a copy of your child\u2019s birth certificate, order it here \u2023\u2023\u2023<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the meantime, you can register your child.

Starting kindergarten early<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n

Some parents may want their child to start kindergarten early. This is possible ONLY if the child will be 5 years old by December 31.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space height=”40px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

Making the right decision for your child<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>[vc_tta_accordion color=”vista-blue” active_section=”-1″ collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Is an early start beneficial for your child?” tab_id=”1627605085331-a3a97459-f6131628003227453162800502986916280050407051630715202025″][vc_column_text]If you believe that your child is very bright and mature compared to children of his or her own age, you can request a derogation test for your child to pass. Your child will need to take and pass this test.<\/p>\n

Know that if a child is not ready for school when starting kindergarten, this can lead to serious learning, behaviour and self-esteem issues.<\/p>\n

The Quebec government allows children who are very advanced in their development and have the required skills to be admitted a year early at the kindergarten level. This exceptional measure is allowed when it is demonstrated that it is detrimental for the child NOT to attend school. For example, if the child is exceptionally gifted, not going to school early could be harmful to his or her development.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Are there negative repercussions to my child starting kindergarten early?” tab_id=”1627605094076-89b5b460-00891628003227453162800502986916280050407051630715202025″][vc_column_text]If your child is not ready, an early kindergarten start can cause damage to their communication, physical, cognitive, and social and emotional development. They risk repeating grades, which can lead to self-esteem issues.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How to determine if my child is ready to start kindergarten a year early?” tab_id=”1628004937524-4bcaf495-371f162800502986916280050407051630715202025″][vc_column_text]This is determined by a test that your child must take. The test results must find that your child is a lot more advanced than children of his or her age in 4 developmental areas.<\/p>\n
