FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Director of Education Services and in collaboration with other administrators of Education Services, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the programs in Inuktitut.

  • Develop guidelines and programs to make optimal use of available funds;
  • Plan and coordinate the development of Inuktitut programs and resources;
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and improvement of tools for educational institutions;
  • Support school administrators in their educational roles;
  • Support and oversee the responsibilities, tasks, and professional development of the employees under their supervision;
  • Participate in the development of the departmental budget and review expenditures related to the resources under their responsibility;
  • Take part in working groups and committees related to their areas of responsibility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position in a school board for which an undergraduate degree is required under the minimum qualifications;
  • Six years of relevant experience;
  • A teaching licence recognized under the Education Act for Cree, Inuit and Naskapi Native Persons (R.S.Q., c. I-14).

 

The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Inuktitut and good knowledge of English or French;
  • Leadership and ability to promote teamwork;
  • Willing to travel.

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Class 00-10 as per the working conditions of managers : from $116,551 to $155,396 depending on qualifications and experience.
