FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Coordinator of Research and Special Projects ensures the management of operational activities related to administrative services including research files, external funding and General Administration projects.

 

The Coordinator of Research and Special Projects is specifically responsible for the development, implementation, review and evaluation of departmental policies, rules and procedures governing in particular requests from external partners regarding university research, applications for funding from public and private bodies and the management of specific projects as required by General Administration.

 

In general, this position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of the departmental budget and monitor the budget of select operations and projects.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of up-to-date efficient and effective systems, databases and files that respond to the needs of the department while supporting the overall objectives of the organization and ensuring alignment with legal and governance requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental processes, internal procedures and policies and ensure monitoring as well as compliance in line with key performance measures.

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with relevant departments, develop, implement, revise and evaluate departmental policies, rules and procedures.
  • Coordinate the search for funding opportunities from external partners.
  • Coordinate the activities of the research committee.
  • Disseminate information on research projects.
  • Participate in the committees of external partners.
  • Establish prerequisite steps and working groups for new project initiatives proposed by General Administration.

 

Management of the administrative unit:

  • Participate in resource selection and allocation.
  • Ensure supervision, coaching and professional development of all team members.
  • Identify training needs and support training and development for direct reports.
  • Establish work priorities and resource requirements for the department.
  • Participate in the technical work of the department as required.
  • Perform any other relevant duties, as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position in a school board for which an undergraduate degree is required under the minimum qualifications.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience.

 

The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of the basics of project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels and functions of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq and to develop strong organizational knowledge and relationships.
  • Knowledge and mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Class 8 as per the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq working conditions of managers: from $101,612 to $135,480 annually depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
