FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Nunavik Sivunitsavut (NS) program, the Education Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt Inuktitut language programming for the NS program;
- Participate in the implementation of the courses for the Inuktitut NS program;
- Ensure educational content related to Inuit culture is appropriate;
- Participate in the evaluation of the Inuktitut NS program and materials;
- Review and compile existing resources (literature, dictionaries, films, etc.) and render them accessible to students enrolled in the NS program;
- Advise and support teachers in various matters;
- Be able to lead pedagogical activities for the Inuktitut NS program;
- Perform any other tasks deemed relevant and necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University bachelor’s degree in education, administration, social sciences, or related fields.
The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in Inuktitut;
- Excellent writing skills in Inuktitut;
- Must be willing to work independently and be in regular communication with various organizations and partners;
- Experience teaching in Nunavik (asset).
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: From $55,282 to $102,857 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
