FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the authority of the Secretary General, the Inuktitut Translator provides accurate translations of various documents and curriculum resources, such as student and teacher materials and program guides done in text, audio, and visual files. He or she can also be required to do some proof-reading and interpret at meetings so as to ensure efficient communication in Inuktitut and either English or French.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Translator’s certificate or diploma and/or 2 years relevant experience.

 

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluent in written and spoken Inuktitut;
  • Fluent in either English or French;
  • Familiar with education terminology;
  • Computer literate; competence with Adobe, Microsoft Word, and Desktop publishing;
  • Excellent time management skills /Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able and willing to travel upon request.

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2140: from $54,022 to $86,621 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
