PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
The program of study Powersport Vehicle and Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanics prepares students to work as mechanics for recreational vehicles (such as motorcycles, three-wheelers, scooters, ATVs), recreational watercraft (such as jet skis, outboard motors), and outdoor power equipment (such as motorized lawn and garden equipment, snowblowers, chain saws).
The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
MODULES COVERED:
- Perform shop work
- Inspect electrical and electronic systems
- Repair and maintain four-stroke gasoline engines and their systems
- Repair two-stroke engines and lubrication systems
- Repair and maintain carburetors
- Repair and maintain steering and propulsion systems of recreational watercraft
- Repair and maintain the sequential transmission and clutch systems of the powertrain
ASSETS:
- Knowledge and teaching of the MEES
- Experience in teaching English and French as a second
- Knowledge of the Moodle
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $54,119 to $105,432 annually depending on experience and qualifications. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
