FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Reporting to the Residence Manager, the Cook, Class II assists the Cook, Class I in assuming responsibility for the residence kitchen.
In addition to preparing and cooking food for the staff and students who are staying at the residence, the Cook, Class II will have the following responsibilities:
- Take part in developing balanced menus;
- Maintain the inventory of supplies and food stocks;
- Ensure the rotation and judicious use of food stocks so as to avoid serving the same meals too often;
- Handle receipt of food and goods, and manage stocks;
- See to the cleanliness and maintenance of the personal work area and the equipment and furniture used;
- Perform any other related tasks determined by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma of vocational studies in professional cooking, or diploma or attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority;
- MAPAQ certification.
The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluency in (2) of the three (3) working languages of the Board (Inuktitut, French, English);
- Knowledge of word processing and spread sheets.
WORK SCHEDULE:
38.75 hours per week
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the AENQ collective agreement for support staff, this position belongs to job category 5312: $30.45 an hour. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
