News Release

On January 3, 2024, the Quebec Ministry of Education informed us that its Direction générale des affaires internes had been mandated to investigate the governance and administration of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq. This follows a decree issued by the Executive Council of the Quebec government on December 20, 2023.

“We welcome this investigation. I believe it will provide an opportunity for the Quebec government to better understand our needs and the specificities of the environment in which we operate. We remain committed to working collaboratively with the investigation team while it continues its important work.”

– Harriet Keleutak, Director General, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq

“We need adequate support from the Quebec Ministry of Education, and I am hopeful that this investigation will help us move forward on several fronts. Among others, providing equal working conditions to all our employees remains a top priority for the Council of Commissioners. Our budget rules also expired in June 2023; the new ones must reflect our realities and projected infrastructure and personnel needs.”

– Sarah Aloupa, President, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq
