It has been a busy year so far for our Post-Secondary Students at John Abbott and Collège Montmorency. With the relocation outside of Nunavik, it hasn’t always been easy, for example, the adjustments to new surroundings and taking on new challenges. To help with the transition and to make them feek a little more at home, Post-Secondary Student Animators, Jimmy Uqittuq and Alec Richardson help support students with their transition to the south. They help plan monthly gatherings for students attending university or college in Montreal. It’s a chance for the students to connect with familiar faces, meet new friends and take a break from all the studying and home work!

Over the last few months the students went camping near Mont-Tremblant, apple picking in the fall, visited a haunted house in Drummondville, tried archery tag and attended the Post-Secondary Student Christmas Party. Jimmy and Alex aren’t just there for fun and games, they also play a big role in helping students navigate in their new surroundings and get accustomed to urban life. They provide support and mentorship in life skills (budgeting, time management, stress management, etc.), personal and logistical support, and above all, are a constant help to students in a time of need.
