The Employee Newsletter is getting a makeover! This new look is complimented by the visuals created as part of an exciting initiative that our team has been working on for some time now.

At Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, we are always on the lookout for new ways to connect with Nunavimmiut. That is why we are so excited to share with you our latest initiative: ᑭᓗᐃᑦ | KILUIT

It all started with an idea: What if we printed a newsletter that would be sent to each and every post office box in Nunavik? To make it extra special, we could reach out to all of our schools and ask students to help us come up with a name!

This past February, with the support of principals and teachers, we launched a contest to help find the perfect name for our newsletter. All classes at Kativik Ilisarniliriniq schools were invited to participate and each class was able to submit one proposal along with a definition and explanation of their name choice.

Thanks to the participation and enthusiasm of our students, we received a number of name proposals! In the end it was teacher Gabriel Besner’s class at Uqutaaq School in Inukjuak that was selected to name our new newsletter: ᑭᓗᐃᑦ | KILUIT. A fantastic name, but what exactly does kiluit mean?

ᑭᓗᐃᑦ or kiluit, is a type of stitch typically used in sewing traditional Inuit clothing. With that idea in mind, our newsletter ᑭᓗᐃᑦ or Kiluit aims to stitch together the many works and projects of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq! Our newsletter, which was sent earlier this month to all PO boxes in Nunavik, highlights our long-time staff, special and exciting updates, job opportunities and much more!

We are very excited about this new initiative and are looking forward to hearing from you!
